I have written and produced literally hundreds of short form content videos for clients such as British Eventing, Porsche Owners Club. Center Parcs, numerous council clients and many more. Below is a very small selection of them.
Silver Sunday is an annual event to fight loneliness and isolation amongst old people. The Sir Simon Milton Foundation run a large event in Westminster every year and wanted a film to promote it on their website and other channels. Rather than hearing from councillors and providers, I wanted to tell a real story of someone who had benefited from it.
Rosemary was referred to us by her carers as someone who had a great story. Her unscripted delivery was powerful and moving, and made for a great case study.
Sutton Council asked me to create a foster care recruitment campaign, specifically targeting people to foster teenagers: a notoriously difficult age group to place. My idea was to turn conventional thinking on its head, and explain how rewarding fostering a teenager can be because you are guiding them through decisions that will define the rest of their lives. I wanted to hear the success stories from the people themselves, and focus on the life-long relationships that develop.
Along with posters, leaflets and social media, I produced two films. I was given the names of potential interviewees and met them to hear their stories. I then wrote treatments and put together a film crew, before returning to shoot. I wanted to create a visual narrative rather than just filmed interviews intercut with B-roll footage.
The campaign was hugely successful. It had paid for itself in only three months, and 37 children were placed over a two-year period as a direct result of foster carers recruited through this campaign.
Every year Harley-Davidson produces content from its HOG Euro Festival. This normally includes a film featuring highlights from the event. As Creative Director of Dialogue, it became my responsibility to create the 2016 event film. I felt that what had been missing from the previous films was any sense of a narrative. So, I wrote one based on the story of a couple riding to the event, meeting other rides and enjoying all that was on offer. I also dictated a filmic style that felt cool and contemporary. It was a real step forward and I was invited by Harley-Davidson to consult on their social strategy.
A lot of my work has involved producing animations. The charity Khulisa wanted a powerful brand video to explain their work and strategy. Working with their directors, we isolated the narrative and enlisted the support of Joely, a young woman they had supported who now also worked with them. I was responsible for writing the script, recording the voiceover and producing the video with an animator.
